Casa Sola, San Donato, Tuscany
Casa Sola - one of the most ancient place names in the area - is situated
in the municipality of Barberino Val d'Elsa in an ideal position to use as
a base for exploring all of Tuscany. Among vineyards, forest and olive groves,
Casa Sola is located in the heart of Chianti Classico approximately 30km from
Florence, 28km from Siena and 90km from Pisa. Casa Sola covers a total area
of 120 hectares, of which 30 are vineyards and 40 are olive groves. The
remaining terrain is made up of fields and forests, which help to enrich the
breathtaking panorama, which is enjoyed at the farm. The company's offices
and reception are located at the centre of the property in the main villa:
here you will find them at your disposal to help you discover Casa Sola, its
products, its fascination and its surroundings. On the side of the offices is
the heart of the company: the fermentation and aging cellars. Here passion,
experience, tradition and innovation are founded on the search for the maximum
potential from the grapes. On two hills equidistant from the company centre,
immersed between cypresses and olive trees, the Poderi Montarsiccio and Ticciaia
emerge - splendid colonial houses, which have been restructured and equipped
for a pleasant farm stay. The beauty of the spot and the breathtaking views,
which can be enjoyed at Casa Sola, allow guests to indulge in full relaxation
in life and the culture of Chianti.
Pergliamici, I.G.T.
85% Sangiovese, 9% Canaiolo Nero, 3% Trebbiano Toscano, and 3% Malvasia del
Chianti. This wine Per Gli Amici, "for my friends," was intended to be consumed
solely by the locals of Barberino Val d'Elsa when production first began.
However, due to the wines overwhelming popularity and demands from far and
wide for this amazing, unexpensive Supertuscan, Casa Sola began offering the
Pergliamici outside of the vineyard. The wine is fermented in temperature
controlled stainless steel tanks then aged for some months more in cement
tanks. After this, refinement occurs for three more months in bottle before
the wine is released. Ruby red in color, the Pergliamici even exhibits some
orange tinges. The bouquet is intense, persistent, and evocative of ripe
wildberries. In taste, the Pergliamici displays nice dryness, well-rounded-ness,
and a continuous finish with fruit and elegant tannins.
Chianti Classico, D.O.C.G.
90% Sangiovese, 4% Canaiolo, 4% Cabernet, 2% Merlot. Fermentation of the
grapes lasts for 12-15 days at controlled temperatures with complete
malo-lactic fermentation. The aging is 18 months partly in oak casks and
partly in barriques made of French oak, with a 14-month fermentation
period in bottle. The color is an appealing ruby, the nose a fine and
intense aroma, and the flavor is persistent with fresh fruit. Overall the
taste is full, balanced and pleasant from a modern Chianti Classico able
to give the strong and typical emotions of its territory.
Chianti Classico Riserva, D.O.C.G.
90% Sangiovese, 7% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Merlot. Fermentation of the grapes
last for 12-15 days at controlled temperatures, again with complete
malo-lactic fermentation. Also, 24 months partly in oak casks and partly
in barriques made of French oak comprises the aging, with an additional
14 months in bottle. The wine shows a deep ruby color with garnet tones,
and boasts a complex aroma that improves its bouquet with the next 2 or
3 years. Light wood aromas, with vanilla, spices and ripe red fruit
scents pervade.
Montarsiccio, I.G.T.
60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 10% Sangiovese. This wine comes from
selected grapes from the Montarsiccio vineyard and sees 24 months in
French oak casks. The intense ruby red color of the wine contains purple
tones as well. The taste, a mature fruit flavor with spicy vanilla and
liquorices aromas. Velvety and full bodied, soft with delicate tannins
and very persistent. An elegant and harmonic wine from Tuscany.
