Herzu Riesling, I.G.T.
Grape: Riesling Renano 100%. The first bottling of Sergio Germano's riesling Herzu was in 2006. This is an unusual white for the Piedmont region. It is made of riesling from Sergio's new vineyards in the village of Ciglié, about thirty minutes south of his estate in Serralunga. The property is a steep chalky south-facing hillside, perfect for grape-growing. Altitude of the vineyards: 520 - 550 meters above sea level. Exposure of the vineyards: south east. Soil: limestone and clay. Harvest: end of September, beginning of October. If you are a real Riesling fan you will love it. Dry, hints of lime-peel, wet stones, floral, very mineral-tasting.
