Pervini - Manduria, Puglia
Pervini has made a big impact on the Pugliese wine scene for a long time now. For years Gregory Perrucci, his oenologist brother, Fabrizio, sister Alessia, and agronomist Salvatore Mero, have been involved in the major task of renovating numerous grower's old bush trained vineyards that were under threat of extinction.
Pervini wines were also highly appreciated in Italy and abroad. For example, the Bizantino Rosso, a blend of Negroamaro and Malvasia Nera, when presented at the tastings in London and New York back in 1998, was a successes. Its is a wine of considerable structure, with fruit aromas and undertones of tobacco and spice, warm and velvety in the mouth, with a complexity of tastes ranging from blueberry jam and raspberry to pencil lead. Indeed, it proved to be one of the most interesting Salento reds.
Pervini still one of the leading winery in the region of Puglia, in Italy and in the world. Gregory Perrucci it is the only one left in charge of this historical winery and he says that the best is yet to come for Pervini!
